Welcome to our study about Internet usage, personality and social media!
Answer our survey and get to know more about your individuality and technology use: in detail your personality, your Internet-/Smartphone-consumption and social media usage. Our questionnaires for personality and Internet usage as well as their evaluations are backed by science. Your personalized feedback and social media “profiling” comprising the analysis of the valence of your posts will appear upon completion. Curious to find out how positive or negative your Tweets and Instagram posts are?
What it´s all about
With this survey we´re investigating the link between personality, Internet usage in general and social media usage in particular.
What happens with your data
The data collected will be analysed and published as a research paper. The analysis is performed on group averages, making identification of single participants impossible.
Anonymous participation and data privacy
We´re based in Germany where Data Privacy is written with a capital “D” and “P”. As you will never be asked for your name, the participation in our survey is completely anonymous. The social media data will be collected through the official APIs of Twitter and Instagram respectively, which means that we only retrieve data that you agreed to be available upon registration on the platform. If you have a private account on Twitter, we won’t be able to retrieve any data, for instance. We only extract the amount of data needed for our research purposes and don’t store any data permitting personal identification. In detail: When you provide us with your Twitter or Instagram account identity, it is technically possible to get your name if and only if you provided it upon registering on the platform. Even if it is possible in some cases, we will not further use this information in our analysis or for any other purposes. Variables that are of interest to us are the number of posts, valence of posts (number of positive / negative words used), number of friends, number of followers and vocabulary used in posts, to give you an idea. We commit to retrieve the social media data we need within four weeks after completion of this survey and pledge not to retrieve any additional information past this point. Your participation will not be compensated, though you´ll receive a short feedback on your personality and Internet consumption as mentioned above.
